Baylink Ferries Security Improvements – Environmental Permitting

In response to increased requirements for transportation system security systems, the Bay Link Ferry terminal at Mare Island initiated a project to provide cameras, computerized locks, automatic lights and other electric features. To reduce permitting requirements and timelines NRM staff worked closely with security system design and engineering staff to develop systems which required a minimum amount of excavation and disturbance to existing substrates. NRM staff relationships with agency staff, including BCDC, the US Army Corps of Engineers and others resulted in a smooth, efficient permitting process for this project located on the Bay.
